New Voices Stands in Solidarity with Palestine

New Voices for Reproductive Justice stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine in the face of relentless grief and genocide. The devastating loss of thousands of Palestinian and Jewish lives as a result of Israel’s brutal enforcement of an apartheid state, has created the conditions for unspeakable violence and ongoing injustices – due to its refusal to end its 75-year occupation of Palestine.

The fight for Palestine’s liberation is constant and we refuse to waver in the face of ongoing oppression and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. The connections between Palestine’s fight for freedom and the western fight against anti-Black, anti-Indigenous, racist and colonial violence are inherent and innumerable. The fight for Palestinian sovereignty isn't a choice; it's a mandate for universal human rights. The fight for Palestinian rights and dignity is integral to the fight for human rights across the globe. The human rights violations we’ve witnessed in Palestine are beyond atrocious. Interventions must be made immediately to prevent the loss of more life.

For decades, our movements have supported one another in a principled struggle for Black and Palestinian liberation because we’ve always understood that our movements are inextricably linked. Black and Pan African movements have a long history of solidarity with the Palestinian Liberation Movement. In our fights against repression and oppressive state systems, we find kinship with each other. Any threat to life, bodily autonomy and the freedom to raise children in a way that fosters safety and sustainability, is a threat to Reproductive Justice. At this moment more than ever, it is abundantly clear that the investment in massive military power on behalf of Israel has not kept anyone safe.

We join the organizations and individual freedom fighters in calling on the immediate end to U.S. funding of the Israeli-occupation of Gaza. The crisis in Gaza is a call to all of us to unlearn and divest from western propaganda based on Islamophobia, xenophobia, and colorism that we have been fed our entire lives. None of us are free until all of us are free. This is not the time to turn a blind eye to our neighbor’s suffering or hide behind “complexity.” This is an opportunity to have difficult and uncomfortable conversations, deepen our understanding of the interconnectedness of our struggles and fight(s) for liberation, listen to the needs of Palestinian-led formations, and share the first hand accounts of the genocide that is happening in Gaza.
