Why is Policy Important?

Public policy refers to the set of principles, goals, decisions, and actions that a government (or other legislative body) takes to shape our environments, communities, institutions and society as a whole.

Policies are generally developed to address a problem or create an opportunity. New Voices focuses on policy critical to advancing Reproductive Justice at the city, state, and/or federal level. We work with organizational partners and elected officials to oppose regressive policy, and advance life-affirming legislation in a 501(c)3 compliant manner.

Imagining New Worlds

Telling your story and influencing policy
‘Imagining New Worlds’ is New Voices’ new leadership development cohort that helps participants explore the role policy and legislation play in achieving collective liberation. The cohort explores how our personal stories can help shift sentiments in the policy realm, and how we can advocate for ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities through pushing for life-affirming legislation. This cohort will run in Fall 2025. Click the link below to learn more about the 'Imagining New Worlds.'

Join us for an Advocacy Day

An Advocacy Day is when a group of people who share similar interests, concerns, or ideals, gather at their local or federal Congress to talk to elected officials and their offices about issues and legislation that is important to them. New Voices hosts and participates in different kinds of Advocacy Days at the local, state, and federal level.
